Compression Stockings

Compression Stockings

Compression therapy is the application of a medical gradient elastic garment around the leg. By compressing the limb with graduated compression that is strong at the ankle and weaker as it travels up the leg, medical gradient compression stockings help venous return, decrease venous pressure, prevent venous stasis and deterioration of the venous walls, and effectively relieve aching and heavy legs. Depending on the condition and individual circumstances of the patient, medical compression therapy can be applied in different forms including socks, stockings, pantyhose or bandages. Compression stockings are often used to treat:

  • Phlebitis
  • Thrombosis
  • Blood vessel malformations
  • Chronic venous diseases
  • Heavy legs
  • Oedemas
  • Leg ulcers
